DirectX 9 has been around since 2004, and you can pick up a card for your desktop that supports it for around 20 bucks. This isn't quite analogous to Windows requiring a massive hardware upgrade for Vista, although it is definitely annoying.
What is strange is that Cover Flow on iTunes will work on these older machines, including the main Windows XP computer I use at work. The graphics card is older, yet, as you can see in the screenshots, Cover Flow works in iTunes and doesn't in Safari 4. This leads to my other complaint about the beta: Safari offers no notification when your graphics card is not compliant. Top Sites and Cover Flow merely don't appear. So if the browser must require an upgrade, when iTunes doesn't, the least Apple could do is include some kind of warning.

If Apple had to always put out a statement of if your hardware is compliant of not,you would never get any work done.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to get all the cool graphics and bells and whistles that Apple uses then get an Apple. Don't mess around with a piece of crap hoping that it will work like a MAC because it just wont.
I learned that the hard way. I finally broke down and bought a Mac 6 years ago and the thing never has had an issue. It has handled everything I have thrown at it.
I think Apple should quit making things like Itunes and Safari for the PC's. They wont wont and don't work like the Apples' version. They look the same but don't function the same. I know this because I am a computer tech for a city and I have had half the city come in and tell me how much ITUNES and Safari now sucks for the PC bit when they use it and their friends or relatives houses on their MAC it works flawlessly.
